[스타뉴스=김미화 기자] Group WINNER won the no. 1 spot at ‘Music Core’, as soon as they made comeback.
On MBC’s ‘Show! Music Core’ aired live on April 14, WINNER was ranked at no. 1 with their new song, ‘EVERYDAY’. Among other no. 1 contenders including BIGBANG’s ‘FLOWER ROAD’ and Mamamoo’s ‘Starry Night’, WINNER became the final winner to receive the no. 1 trophy.
WINNER stated, “We feel happy to have won the no. 1 trophy with a song made for our fans. We would like to thank our fans who support us, producers that helped us create a good song, our president (YANG HYUN SUK), and our family”. They continued sharing their thoughts by stating, “We would also like to thank our fellow artists that gave us good advice”.

As of April 4, at 8 PM, the title song ‘EVERYDAY’ from WINNER’s 2nd official album ‘EVERYD4Y’ was placed at no. 1 on Melon, which is Korea’s largest music streaming platform, and as of today(5th) at 1 AM, they achieved an ‘all-kill’ by topping all 8 music charts in platforms including Melon, Mnet, Olleh, Naver Music, Bugs, Genie, Soribada, and Monkey 3. WINNER’s sensational performance in real-time charts continued, and is maintaining its no. 1 spot 7 different platforms as of 8 AM.
Not only the title song but all 12 tracks from the 2nd album successfully reached the chart and ‘lined-up’, showing WINNER’s power and influence in music charts.
As it was WINNER’s official full-length album being released in 4 years, the responses by music fans towards the new album were explosive. The group dominated no. 1 real-time searched keywords in major portal sites and Melon as soon as the new song was released, proving the close attention WINNER’s new album is receiving.
The song also received a lot of attention overseas. WINNER’s new album was ranked at no. 1 on iTunes Charts in 18 different countries, proving WINNER’s global popularity. WINNER’s ‘EVERYDAY’ is a song in a Trap genre unlike what WINNER has previously shown through their music. As of Today (6th) at 8 AM, the title song ‘EVERYDAY’ from WINNER’s 2nd official album ‘EVERYD4Y’ achieved a no. 1 ‘all-kill’ in 7 different charts including Melon, Mnet, Genie, Soribada, Bugs, Olleh, and Naver. After topping various music charts as soon as its release, ‘EVERYDAY’ is maintaining its top position in music charts for 3 days.
Following their no. 1 march in Korean and iTunes Charts, they also dominated Chinese music charts as well. ‘EVERYDAY’ was placed at no. 1 on the Comprehensive New Releases Chart in QQ Music, which is China’s largest music platform. Furthermore, other tracks including ‘AIR’, ‘HELLO’, ‘TURN OFF THE LIGHT’, and ‘LA LA’ were also placed at the top ranks, proving WINNER’s presence in China, QQ Music’s Comprehensive New Releases Chart has a lot of meaning since the chart includes Chinese songs as well as foreign songs.
Also, the video for ‘EVERYDAY’ shot at Malibu, California by maestro director Dave Meyers was placed at QQ Music’s K-Pop MV Chart. WINNER’s transformation and their homme-fatal charms displayed with Malibu’s beautiful scenery as the background became the center of attention.
The song ‘EVERYDAY’ topped iTunes Charts in 18 different countries as soon as its release, proving the global attention on WINNER. The song also topped the Pop Album Chart and the K-Pop Album Chart in iTunes Japan, while being placed at no. 5 in the United States, the country with the largest music market in the world.
Furthermore, WINNER’s new album received the spotlight from US Billboard. On April 5 (local time), Billboard stated “WINNER came back with their 2nd official album, ‘EVERYD4Y” and introduced, “WINNER studied on their music styles in various ways through the new album”.
They continued, “What captures the listeners’ attention is that the members participated in the writing and composing of all tracks”. On WINNER’s album that contains various genres such as Hip-hop, Acoustic, Pop, and Trap, the album Billboard stated, “WINNER’s new album contains various genres the group has challenged on since debut, which proves their hard work in the past 4 years”, mentioning WINNER’s growth in musicality.
